Goodbye Summer!

I like to hold on to summer for as long as I can, but I'm thinking it's now over.  I don't take a camera most places, so I didn't capture all the fun we had at the pool or Lincoln's first fish at Grandpa's pond or Walker's first ride in the bike trailer.  Mom fail!  But here are some fun summer photos to remember my boys this year.

Lincoln isn't a fan of hair cuts.  Poor Grammy gets the job of having to do this one.  We bribe with lots of different goodies!

I did get a photo of his first paddle boat ride.  He was really scared at first but ended up having fun once they got going.

 Walker was baptized!

The sweetest boy.

Walker learned to sit up!  Hooray.  Love that milestone.

Because who doesn't have a 1/2 cake for their 6 month birthday.

Goodbye Summer!  We'll miss you.

Catch up

Does anyone read this anymore?!  Once I got so behind on the blog, I didn't know where to pick back up again... so it just sat.  But today, naptime has aligned and I found myself wanting to post some photos of these precious little boys.

These last 4 months have been amazing, beautiful, crazy and hard.  Here are just a few moments of my life as mom of 2 boys.

The first week Walker was home.  Lincoln is a fantastic big brother.  I couldn't imagine him taking on this role any better!

Growing super fast!

This double stroller was a Christmas present to myself.  I'm so glad I splurged and got one.  I've gotten so much use out of it already.

My mom and I took the boys to a movie!  We saw the lego movie.  It was a bad choice for a 2 year old. But he loved the experience and most of all the popcorn.  Guess who else loved the movie?  Walker!  I think he could have stared at the big screen all day.

I'm not sure if Lincoln or I love parades more.  I'm surprised at his attention span for the whole thing.  He's gotten pretty good at collecting candy.  Last year, it was very easy to convince him to just put it in the bag.  This year he has an opinion that he should eat it as it's thrown.

Mini doughnuts at Sturgis Falls.  It doesn't get much better.

Travis and I took the boys to the Blank Park Zoo in Des Moines.  We met my mom and Dale there which was a big help.  I'm not sure Walker got much out of it.  The day we went it was really hot and I was concentrating on trying to find shade for him.  Lincoln had a blast.

 My sweet boy.

I've tried to give him more activities to do lately.  He hasn't been very interested in any of his toys.  He likes to throw things and yell.  Super.

Lincoln has taken an interest in baseball lately.  The only problem with this activity is he wants to hit the ball then tell me to go get it an put it back on his tee.  This gets pretty old.

The 4th of July is one of my favorite holidays.  So much of my family is in one place.  We all had such a great day in Clear Lake.

 We love cousins!!!

Walker Jon

I can't believe how in love I am with this little boy already!  I of course knew I would love my newest son but am blown away by our immediate connection.  Sweet Walker Jon was born on March 3rd... the day I secretly wanted my whole pregnancy.  Lincoln's birthday is 12-12 and I thought it would be fun if our 2nd born's birthday was 3-3.

I had an appointment with our midwife on Monday morning and was dilated to 7-8 cm.  I had been having contractions for awhile, but they were so on and off and never got intense.   No one was surprised because I dilated like this with Lincoln.  In fact, the week before I was at a 4-5 and my midwife told me if I was still pregnant the following week at my appointment I should plan on having my bag packed because they would likely send me over to the hospital.  We knew it wasn't a sure thing, but gave us a heads up so we could be prepared.  Travis took the day off work and we had plans already lined up for Lincoln.

Once my water was broke, things went fast and got intense quickly.  We took one lap around the hospital floor and I had to sit down followed by laying on my side in the bed.  I was able to lay there and breathe through the contractions for maybe 30 minutes until I hit transition.  Before I knew it I had the urge to push.  I was a little alarmed and confused because I thought it was way too early.  But 7 minutes later, Walker Jon was born.  A 1 1/2 hour labor isn't bad!  I feel so fortunate that my mom has been at the births of both my sons and we have wonderful images to remember the day.

Today is my due date!  I'm so glad we are celebrating it with our newest little man.  He fits into our family so well and Lincoln is an amazing big brother!  I am so thankful for a safe and smooth delivery and our healthy boy.
