Christmas in Des Moines

I think my mother has pointed out my blogging absence a couple of times this week. It's pretty funny considering she is one of the only people who knows what I'm doing day to day. For everyone else who might care, I've been enjoying the holidays this week! I finished up all my work yesterday and am super excited about this. It's been awhile since I didn't have anything I HAD to be doing. I'm really thankful for having as much business as I did this summer and fall, but I'm nervous it's going to make this cold dark winter season that much longer. Yesterday after dropping off the last of my client orders I hung out with 2 friends for over an hour each. It felt great to know I didn't have lots of work waiting for me at home.

I'm so excited for Travis to get off work today so we can spend more time with our families celebrating Christmas! This past weekend we went to Des Moines and had our little get-together there.

Dale (my Mom's BF) took these shots above. I love them! We made bread to go with our lasagna Saturday night. My mom gave me an extra packet of yeast so I could make some at home. I thought it would sit in my cupboard for months, but I used it a couple of days ago. I was watching Alexis earlier this week and thought it would be a fun thing for us to do together. She's only two months old, but seemed to like all the action in the kitchen.

SPOILED! We don't let Mowgli on the furniture unless we invite him up to snuggle. Let's just say he gets his fair share of snuggling in when my Mom is around!

We may or may not :) have eaten a whole batch of carmel corn this past weekend. It was decided that another batch should be made. I brought some home with us to take to Trav's side of the family, but I don't know if it will make it there! It's too good.

Knitting has become a hobby of my Moms in the past few years. No human was quick enough to volunteer as a model for her latest creation so she chose Mowgli as the lucky one. He's a pretty good sport. Any color really looks great against his light fur. He's more photogenic than the rest of us. What a wonderful way to start our celebrations.
