Mowgli

More on Mowgli!  He has been such a good puppy!  Only one accident since Friday.  He sleeps in his kennel, goes potty when Travis takes him out at 5:30am.  Holds it till one of us comes home at lunch, then holds it again till we get home at 5:00pm.  We're really impressed.  We heard somewhere that to train a dog to ring a bell when he has to go out, to put some peaunut butter on the bell closest to his face level.  Show him that bell.  It will ring when he licks it, then let him out.  We'll have to report back after awhile to see if he catches on.  Right now, we mostly ring it for him to associate the sound.

He's scared of stairs.  When we go upstairs, he just stands at the bottom and watches.  Today, Travis put him in the middle of the stairs, and he just froze.  Trav showed him how to go up, and he seemed very surprised there were more rooms up there!

He cries at night when we put him in his kennel.  I feel so sad when I hear him whining.  We think he stops after a few minutes, and we don't hear him at all in the middle of the night.  We kinda feel like we lucked out!  Before we got him, we heard people warn us about sleepless nights.  In our case, that's only true because we're both so excited to see him in the morning.

We were warned when we picked him up, that at some point he would outsmart us.  My goodness, we didn't expect it this soon!

We thought it would be nice to be able to contain him without using a kennel (which by the way, his real kennel is NOT the one shown in the picture, he had a bigger kennel that he uses.  Anyway, a baby gate was our bright idea.  It didn't take him more than 24 hours to figure this maneuver out!

Oh my goodness! He should have been a monkey. I love looking at your site Ashley. I am trying to set one up for the Nonnweilers but run into a few glitches. I am not sure how you make it look so easy. One thing is the pictures. I don't see where you can get the photo below your post. Will keep playing.
