Give Thanks!

I have so many things to thank God for this year, they are uncountable!  For me, Thanksgiving wasn't off to the smoothest start.  We were supposed to spend Thursday with Travis' family (immediate and extended)  Or at least that's what the two of us thought.  Wednesday, we found out that Thanksgiving WAS CANCELED!  His family are grain and livestock farmers, and the crops were still in the ground!  Or as Chase put it, "There's a million dollars in the ground, and you want us to have Thanksgiving?!"  We decided to still go to his parents house to hang out and Travis wanted to help his Dad a bit.  I did get to see a pretty nice sunrise on Thanksgiving morning.  The picture doesn't do it justice... I should read up on how to take better sunrise/sunset pics.  This really isn't on my immediate list of things to do, but someday!
I realized that my extended family was getting together that day at noon in Mason City and decided I should go instead of watching TV by myself for the afternoon!  I was glad  I got to see some aunts, uncles, and cousins for a few hours before heading back to Trav so we could go home.
This picture is a bit too blurry... BUT, it has a funny story behind it.  The other person also taking a photo of the same people happen to let a naughty word slip, and this was the reaction she got!
Yes, we were celebrating Thanksgiving, and YES we also made Christmas cookies :)

Travis and I also hosted our own Thanksgiving on Saturday for my mom, dale, and my brother. Everyone came on Friday night so my mom would be here to help me with the food in the morning.  HAVE YOU EVER PREPARED A TURKEY TO GO IN THE OVEN?!  NEVER AGAIN!  I was really grossed out!  I've never really seen anything like that!  YUCK.  Dale informed me you can buy prepackaged turkey breasts.  I'm totally doing that next time I host Thanksgiving!
Mowgli loved all the attention and frequent invites on to the couch:

Kudos to both of you... I don't know that I will ever attempt it. Bones and such make me cringe. I've done the turkey breasts before and they are amazing. I think I'll stick with those!! :) I'm a wimp.

Ash, it was a great Thanksgiving; a memorable Thanksgiving! You did a great job. I love the photo of Mowgli and Jay. Dale got some good photos of you with the raw bird too! You did a wonderful job of hosting a holiday!
