Champion in the making

Mowgli was in his first dog show this weekend!  To explain why Mowgli was in a dog show, I'll tell you about how we decided to get Mowgli.  Trav and I had been tossing around the idea to get a dog at the end of this last summer.  Cheryl, one of Travis' coworkers told us that she had bred one of her dogs with a friend, Alla, and had just had a litter.  She sent Travis a few pictures of the litter and he was SOLD on getting one.  Cheryl got first pick of this litter, but because she already has many dogs, asked if we wanted her pick if we would agree to let her take Mowgli to dog shows and breed him (probably once).  We thought it sounded like a good deal, and took her up on the offer!  So that's how Mowgli became ours, and that's why he was in his first dog show in Des Moines.

He was excited and all ready to go!  All the smells and sounds were really exciting for him and he wanted to sniff and play with all the other dogs.  Even though this was our very first time being at a dog show, we figured it would be frowned upon to let our puppy prance around and jump on the other dogs in hopes of finding just the right playmate.

He was SO good for his first time in the ring, although, it's doubtful he's supposed to be sitting down and wanting to play :)

Can you see the blue ribbon that says FIRST PLACE in Cheryl's hand?!  That's Mowgli's!  He MAY have won it on default because there weren't any other puppies in his class.  Oh well, we think he deserved it!

Travis and I came back home on Saturday, but Mowgli was shown again on Sunday.  My mom and Dale went back for the second show!  They may be Mowgli's biggest fans :)  Dale got these shots from the second day with him and the judge.  Yes, he's kissing the judge.  We're thinking he's not supposed to do that either!  

Travis and I are so proud of our pup.  He's 7 mo old and came home with 4 ribbons!  Hopefully he had a good time!  He got home about an hour ago and played for a bit.  Then got out most of his toys, layed them around him and zonked out on the floor.
